My MC 2500 has just started to click over from green to red on the right channel only The output thru the speakers sounds fine. I shorted the inputs to the amp when it was happening and it had no effect. It is red about half the time now. Any suggestions on what to look at??? Thanks much

Does the amp do the same with the speaker wires disconnected? Power Guard is telling you there is a problem.

Thanks,

Thanks for the response Ron. I did not disconnect the speakers, but I did turn the output off the them using the knob on the front panel. I thought that would suffice. When I get home tonight I will disconnect them.

Thanks

Ron, I turned on the unit last night and ran it until the red light came on for the right channel. Then I turned everything off and disconnected everything from the MC2500. When I turned it back on, the right channel came on and stayed red, so it must be something in the amp.

Sounds like a bad Power Guard comparitor IC or possibly a LDR with a bad emitting diode.

Terry, thanks for the pointers to look at. I will check them out and see if I can tell if they are bad.
