Who's Jeff Gordon and what's his feedback rating?

Here is a classic from the USENET. Yeah, yeah, I know it is longish, but this is a riot. The ultimate proof is in bold text:

Probably one of the most popular type of sports around these days is auto racing There are many types of racing out there, for example F1, Indy, Sprints, Open Wheels, and many others. But, there is no doubt that NASCAR is the most widely watched forms of racing in the world. When we think of NASCAR, we think of fat juicy red necks that look like their clothes have more oil in
them then their cars. You also think of men with beer bellies that are so immense that their gut hangs over their belt more than a foot. But now NASCAR has tried to clean up their act to draw all types of crowds, so the sport can grow. First they started to clean up the drivers so they look more advertiseable and presentable. This appealed to more of the yuppie crowd and
to the women. Now NASCAR has brought out Jeff Gordon, a young man who is very clean cut. NASCAR said that Gordon would be easy to appeal to the upper class people who do not watch racing. But, as many NASCAR fans have found out Gordon was brought out to appeal to the homosexual crowd.

The first bit of evidence is that Jeff Gordon is too clean cut. No real man in the world is as clean cut and yuppie looking as Jeff Gordon. If you are very stereotypical you would think of a gay man as being young looking, boyish looking, clean shaved, typically thin and lean, and last but not least female looking. When you look at Jeff Gordon you can see all of these features in
him.

Jeff is not the only one on his racing team that appears stereotypically gay. Every man on the race team from the owner Rick Hendrix down to the tire man appear that way. This is the first real bit of evidence that you can see this as starting to be a real conspiracy. Gordon has another very blatant sign of homosexuality, and that is his two big sponsors, Skittles and DuPont. If you look at Gordon's car you will notice the
colors of his sponsors. To the average eye you might not recognize the meaning of the color, but to the trained eye you will notice the colors are those of the rainbow, red, yellow, blue, and green. These colors are widely known as the
colors of the gay community. When you are at your next gay pride march look around and notice what colors the people are wearing, and you will know what I am talking about. Most gays try do be bashful about there homosexuality with small rainbow stickers or rainbow T-shirts. But not Gordon, he covers his whole
car with his gay pride colors. He has also gone as far as calling his race team the rainbow warriors.

If we take a look into our world history we would find that all civilizations, religions, and cults use numbers for some type of significance. People have been using numbers for all types of uses. For example, calendars are used to keep count of items, math, satanic worship, and in many other types of ways.
NASCAR has been using numbers for many years to identify a driver and his car. For years now Jeff Gordon has used the number 24 to identify his race team. People have gone a long time without knowing the significance of the number 24.

I have come up with a formula that shows the number 24 stands for I am gay. If you take the alphabet and number it starting as A being 1 B being 2 and so on, and so on, my formula works on in a strange way. If you take the 2 from 24 and add it to 7 you will get 9 which is I, 24 divided by 24 is 1 which is A, 37 subtract 24 will give you 13 which is M, 31 subtract 24 is 7 which is G, and 24 is Y which is the most recognizable of them all. (24-2+7=9=I, 24/24=1=A, 37-24=13=M, 31-24=7=G, 24=Y). After you work this formula you can’t help but notice that it spells out I am gay.

After you put together all of the evidence, you have to come to the concussion that Jeff Gordon and his homosexual racing team are nothing but a gimmick to attract gays to watch racing. I for one do not intend or wish to hurt homosexuals in any way but I do wish to point out the truth. If you are going
to run around a track in a race car with the number 24 and call your team the rainbow warriors just simply come out of the closet. We now live in a time where it is just better to come out with the truth then to lie to people about who you really are. I hope the Jeff Gordon will soon come out and tell the truth so we all can stop pondering about him or his race team."

Truly I can't stand to watch NASCAR on TV, but what you said R2R is why I go to the local track, SPEEDWAY 95 every Wed. night all throught the summer for WACKY WEDNESDAY's. All you gotta have is a helmet, seatbelts, a window net, and some balls and you can be racing! It's like the Road warrior movie, cars smashing, roll overs are common, fires are too ;) and best of all no yellow flags and they only throw the red if a roll over, fire or the track is blocked, it is a BLAST! I don't even go to the local track on Sat. night to watch the NASCAR wanna be's (pro stocks) cuz they have so much $$$ invested they never wanna crash. But on Wed's and the guy is driving an 86 ford escort and someone bumps him? Guess what hapens????? :D

This is from Unity Raceway, they do the same thing except it's Thursday Thrillers, we don't go as often cuz it's farther away for us to drive but it's a fun show as well. Wanna race against this guy?

At Unity they do a really crazy race called a "ramp race" they put a car wide 2' ramp in the middle of the racetrack and the rule is that a car has to have at least one wheel hit the ramp on every lap :eek: Can be quite a cool thing to see!!

Okay here's a pic of my Dad's ride circa mid 50's when he was track champion at Merrittville and Ransomville Speedways.

One of the local tracks here used to run "mini" stocks as well as the V-8 stock cars.

Years ago, I used to build engines for the mini class cars. Mostly VWs, but there were Datsuns also and other small 4 cyl cars, etc. Remember Datsuns?

Drove one a few times. LOTS of fun.

A friend of mine got into drag racing VWs about then. Was doing it big time. Built a Karman Ghia with chopped top. Had roller bearing crank, dual webers, etc. Was really fast car. As I recall he ran in the 11s with it. Don't recall what the times actually were, but he won regional races, and raced at Indy.

Anyone here remember Tiny Lund?

He raced here, and the other tracks in the area before he went to Nascar. Big Guy!

My ex-wife got my son hooked on Nascar.Unfortunately Gordon is his favorite driver,because he used to win often.Even my ex who thinks he is just gorgeous realizes he is not the ladies man everyone thought he was. I think Jeff SUX! Sorry to the Nascar fans but I think the whole thing SUX! I am with grumpy.Give me a ¼ mile straight and lets see whos boss!
Although I used to help a ‘roundie’ racer in Corpus Christi back in 1981.It was fun to be in the pits helping out.But the driver I helped was considered a ‘silver spoon’ rich boy so he got very little respect.But the racing at the local track was more interesting than what you see on TV today IMO.
Do not have time to waste to watch a bunch a cars go around in a circle,rather listen to tunes!
And what gets me is the backstabbing these guys do,like when they are down some laps they bump the car in front causing a wreck or spin out and a yellow flag so they have a chance to regain some laps,dirty under handed tricks like this that keep me from watching or becoming a fan of dishonest losers.
Sure you can cheat in drag racing,but you never see ‘em bumping or slamming into each other on purpose!

Where is the poll option for who gives a damn. I don't really follow racing since I never got the chance to do it and it wasn't the childhood thing like it was for my dad who grew up in Indianapolis in the 30s. I am smart enough to know that it is a team sport of which the driver is just one componant. A certain amout of luck is involved but when you get down to basics Jeff Gordon is a champion driver and has a champion crew that he drives for.
What he does or doesn't do when he is not proffesionally driving is nobodies business but his own. Just cause he don't talk like no Redneck Cracker doesn't really seem to matter when he passes the finish line first. People only look down on him because he is short.
