I recently acquired a 1060 with wooden case, in seemingly good condition, missing a on/off button, but still works. I don't imagine its had any maitenance since it was made, and when I plugged it in and hooked up Akai speakers, I got a bad hum, regardless of input, and regardless of speakers. I've tried it in different outlet and know for a fact it didn't always do this.

It hums in an outlet that it didn't hum in, at an earlier time. The hum doesn't get louder with volume, so if I'm playing something loud it doesnt affect me much, but if I want to listen to the radio its enough to give you a headache.

Any tips?

Thanks.

Could very well be bad capacitors somewhere - maybe the cap' in the ćower supply?

You could try and separate the power/pre - and test on external pre/power-units. That could be a way to determine if the problem is in the power section or the pre-section.

Output and driver transistors need to be checked as well.
