hey-Hey!!!,
What are you bringing to the Fest? What is the latest, newest, most spectacular bit of gear you've built?

For me it is the 4E27 amps that got finished 3 days after the 2007 Fest. Linestage should be new as well. Speakers are not going to be mine, along with the Mr.Classicman vinyl rig. I can't wait...well almost...:) The Oswald's Mill Tasting is the previous weekend.
cheers,
Douglas

I don't have anything too exciting, but I hope to have the worlds most heavily modified PAS2 and one or two power amps in tow. I can't wait to see and hear your offerings.:music:

Jay, what power amps? Primarily TV tubes or...? Or maybe a power tube the size of a small radar site? :)

I think they're all still in Squid's basement :lmao:

Don't panic, I know Squid and Kegger will be having rooms too and MarcusIII always has fine speakers; I hope he has something brewing for 2008 although his 2006 and 2007 offering would be tough to beat.

DIY is alive and well in SE MI!!!

Michigan basement gear sounds good! I was wondering are you all inspired by the long winters to make warm audio gear? Any new Dynaco ST70 concoctions?
Sure hope marcusIII is into horns this year. I remember the frankenjbls fondly.

Basement? this stuff is created on the dining room table! It may then take up residence in the basement.

I got away with doing one project on the dining table (my crossover). She didn't really come right out and say it, but I got the idea that maybe it was best to keep the soldering iron in the cave.:D

Joyce, I think I'll be tagging along with EW and Army, so I may have to carry whatever I take on my lap. If that's the case, the 70 pound TV tube amp is out. I think EW's coming out for dinner Saturday to meet Ken, and I'll check with him about space constraints. I guess I could drive my pickup and bring the horns and everything.:D

My wife encourages me to do projects upstairs. Last time I did a major soldering job in my basement area, she came down and said there was a cloud of fumes and I looked kinda bad!

But, back to the original topic, I will be there at AK Fest, and I will for sure have some homebuilt gear. The lineup isn't 100% certain, but I'm sure that I'll at least bring along the Keggerized ST-70. Who knows, maybe I'll even roll tubes with it this year! My speakers choices might include modded Cornwalls (I'm a wood butcher so modding is about as involved in speaker DIY as I'd like to get). I'm sure that I'll have some crazy attenuator, like always! I look forward to AK Fest, it's a big yearly highlight for me!

I'd love to make the trip but I'm still a long way from that becoming a reality... :sigh:

If I did come, I'd bring a couple of the amps I've built this year, and maybe that passive pre I put together.

Yeah!! Get a member's room and show it all off! I'm sure that you made some nice gear and now it's time to let some of the rest of us hear it. :D

If all goes according to plan I will hopefully be attending next year. And if I can (and have it finished) will bring a DIY home theater with me. My plan is to make everything DIY. Amps, surround sound decoder, projector, screen. And maybe the speakers, depends on what I can find (although the only way I am going to fit a decent subwoofer in my room will be to combine it and the coffee table, so that should be DIY). Man I wish I could attended this year.

I've got a new push pull triode sweep tube/compactron driver amp I'll be bringing.

Another version of an ST70, and hopefully the new pre I've been tinkering with will be done.

Speakers will change this year from ADS L880's to Polk 10B's, sporting the new Polk tweeter.

I will have a second pre of some sort and a second set of speakers yet to be determined still.

I'll be there, with squidward, probably providing the analog front end for the system and if I can pull myself away from day to day chores, I'll try to bring a project or two with me. 6T9 amp, maybe a stereo or monoblock SE 5B/255M if I take some time off work before hand.

I am hopeful..

My main project that needs to come together soon will be some Bi or Tri-Amped full range electrostatic Frankenspeakers.... The bass will be delivered by KLH Nine bass panels with Bi-amped e-stat tweeters with possibly a Martin Logan mid panel...

The details are still in the gelling stage, but I am hopeful that it will be interesting at least... If all the electronics come together it should be nice. If it comes together as hoped.. it should be killer.

In case the main speaks aren't done.. I'll either have Altec 9846-8A, Yamaha NS-1000, DQ-10 or Ohm Fs.

We'll see... fingers crossed.

Maybe I should bring the Interstate L-75, so we can set up a listening station with headphones in the Swap Room. I think Pete, Andy and I have a whole mess of vinyl to push.

It's eating me alive - but I won't be able to get a room this year! I have some travel plans that I can't get out of. Incidentally, this is my latest "speaker" project. His name is Lukas, and he has been keeping me from doing anything with audio lately except listening to it. Not that I mind right now. I'm hoping to at least be able to make it there Saturday so I can see everyone. I know Kegger's been working on a Franken-Preamp, and I'm curious! I'll have to wait for 2009 to bring some new speakers. Maybe I'll bring 2 pair!

I would be interested in how you are doing the surround decoding. I looked into it a while back and it seemed DTS and Dolby weren't in to letting just anyone get ahold of an IC with their decoding loaded on to it.

I'm planning to bring my modded ST-70 and a SE shared triode/pentode I re-purposed from an old Clairtone console. Might even bring my modded NAD C521BEE and Rotel phono stage ...

Most of the DVDs I have still have the analog surround on them with the Dolby as an option. Making a simple analog decoder for matrixed surround is not that difficult. :thmbsp:
