Last night I discovered Satie: Works for Piano :music:

I've been studying today and it sounds like I might like Claude Debussy, Maurice Ravel and Francis Poulenc as well.

Any other suggestions?

My musical world is expanding

Suggestions for more Satie or someone like him?

If you want more French (ish) anti Wagnerian piano try Claude Debussy.

If you'd like to try to head in that sort of musical direction try Arthur Honegger, Darius Milhaud, Francis Poulenc, Louis Durey, Georges Auric or Germaine Tailleferre.

Smelling salts?

Kidding.

I have an Erato Records LP entitled Erik Satie - Selected Works, featuring the Ars Nova Ensemble with Marius Constant conducting. This is certainly one of my favorite recordings of Satie material.

For an informative discourse on Satie, check out what's at the UbuWeb Sound website at http://www.ubu.com/sound/satie.html
