Popped in to an antique shop for a quick look for radios...there was vinyl nearby! Or what passed for vinyl...among other disappointments, an absolutely hacked copy of the Kinks "You Really Got Me" marked $8.95. I don't THINK so. Lady at the counter said "I think there's more records down in the "Dollar Room". Went for a look...found a couple crates with the usual Herb Alpert and such...and a few gems:
All $1.00 ea:
Hooters..."Nervous Night" Appears unplayed...mint cover, too. Bought it just for "All You Zombies"
Carly Simon.."No Secrets" Already in the rack...this fine copy will replace my original. And, besides...Carly's headlights kept saying "Buy me! Buy me!" How could I say no?
Rickie Lee Jones...Her 1st one...a nice copy that'll replace my much-played original. Somebody's baby here..nice cover, plastic inner sleeve.
Linda Ronstadt w/Nelson Riddle.."What's New?" Another cover that I couldn't tear my eyes away from...you know the one...Linda in a gauzy dress sprawled out on black satin? Hubba-hubba. Near-mint to boot.
And, the capper:
No idea on the date for this one...from the dawn of Stereo, obviously..."Rondo-lette Stereo Sounds" on, what else, Rondo Records. Your typical stereo demo record with trains, planes, etc. Fine shape...and you talk about 200G vinyl...this slab's gotta weight a pound! Thick, thick, thick.
They'll all get spun this weekend to check 'em out.
BTW...did end up with a neat little Channel Master transistor radio for $6, too.
