Everone's done the fav top 10 on a desert island, or songs to play at your funeral. But I searched and didn't find this topic so here goes...

You are terminaly ill and will die soon. What ONE song would you like to hear as you pass over into the other side.

For me I hope that song is Frank Zappa - Watermelon In Easter Hay.

Without haste...

The Rolling Stones - Gimme Shelter

Probably my most favorite tune ever.

Cheers

Hah! Funny you should start this thread. I just got done reading the desert island thread and my parting thought was "I wonder which song will be the last I hear". Slightly different from your thread title but similar enough that I'll go with the song I had in mind.

John Cale - Helen of Troy off of Circus Live

Hopefully then I'd die with a smile on my face.

Porcelain by Moby.

It was a favorite of my daughter Olivia and I played it during the photo collage of her life at her funeral service. It's been almost four years and the song still brings tears when I hear it on the radio...

What else ? "Piano Exit" from "Layla", of course...

The piano exit on Layla is a direct quote from Schumann's Romance in F (fyi)

Death bed: "We gotta get out of this place" : The Animals ;)

Funeral: "Elegy" by Jethro Tull and "The Dreamer" by Keith Emerson

Kinda reminds me if the opening scene in the movie "The Big Chill" when one of the dead guy's friends sits down at the organ and plays a rather halting version of "You can't always get what You Want" by the Stones. Pretty good choice, actually.

My wife is adamant: "Into The Mystic"...Van Morrison. Me? Someone'll have to flip a coin..either "Moonlight Mile" from the Stones or "Aja"...the ENTIRE album if you please.

Do the Aja album THEN "Moonlight Mile"; that big G chord at the end would be a great fadeout.
Is that a Lockheed Constellation on your avatar?

Can't believe nobody has mentioned Led Zeppelin's "In My Time of Dying". Maybe not my first choice for a last song, but I still can't believe nobody mentioned it......
