Haven't tried, but can't find the difference between 1's, 2's, etc.
I have four of (I think) type 1's.
They look like the type 2's currently on Ebay.

As for the 1's and the 2's, same enclosure, the 2's have equalization controls on the bottom, and the 1's have a 'simplified' driver (my assumption is it's simplified due to the lack of the equalizer).

I was embarrassed a couple of months ago when I was informed that what I thought was a pair of 2's was actually a pair of 1's. I'd never noticed the lack of controls on the bottom. Sonically, I think you'd be hard pressed to tell the difference.
