My 9-year old just came to me and says she has an AL History project due this week on some guy named Lionel Hampton. "Ever Heard of Him" she asks? So I proceed to take her to the CD and LP rack downstairs. We are cooking breakfast right now, while exposing her to Lionel Hampton ~ Fun.
I'm gonna pick out a cd for her to take to school with the project.
Pretty cool way to introduce her to some new/old music.

Yep! That is WAY cool! :thmbsp: It's good to hear that a teacher is making time to introduce his/her students to different kinds of music and artists. That makes for much better adults!
I first learned about Classical music in Grade school myself and that interest took root. My folks' small music/record collection was primarily 78s of swing era music that they acquired back in the day. I grew up listening to those 78s and classical music on the radio. I still listen to and enjoy swing music too, as a result. Looking back now (way back!), when I was listening to that classical music as a kid, I think my folks must have thought I was some kind of a alien, because I certainly didn't get THAT from them! :D

Lionel Hampton? I think he had a bar up here called "The Hampton House" right? :D
Now you're gonna make me go look him up Jeff. Glad to see you around, you been pretty quiet lately.
