Already got that one...Ray Coniff! Thanks, tho.
doodledog 02-11-2008, 12:24 AM Not sure, but I'm guessing Crosby, Stills and Nash on the second one.
vinyldavid 02-11-2008, 01:13 AM If you all cannot get on YouTube (work/school blocks it), here's the Google Video versions:

...sounds a lot like old Traffic (Jim Capaldi, Steve Winwood, et.al.) But, I have a pretty fair Traffic collection and that tune isn't on any of them, I can say that I know the song, which I realize isn't too helpful unless I can ID it with a bit more precision.

I know it, too! No idea who it is, though.
In the first link in the first post, the woman singing is Judy Collins, I forget the album but it's an old one. Is "Marika" the song name? Can't remember.
It's Marieke - 3:12 (Brel, Jacques/Gerard Jouannest) - - - HCA090 Whales and Nightingales

similost 02-11-2008, 01:37 PM For some strange reason. I am thinking the "peace of mind" song is done by an old somewhat obsucre band called The Detours" which was made up of most the members of The Who.. BUT.. seems like that was too early for them.. which meant this song would have been around 63 or so...
...in Flemish and French.
Kriss, dans tout les deux langues? Judy Collins is rather more talented than I thought.
And yet, the song was written by Jacques Brel, he weren't no Flem dude!
vinyldavid 02-11-2008, 04:21 PM according to a friend, the Peace of Mind is By Rare Earth. :scratch2: Can anyone confirm?
similost 02-11-2008, 04:27 PM I could easily believe that..
vinyldavid 02-11-2008, 04:39 PM googling lyrics does nothing.......hmmmm Anyone have a HUGE Rare Earth catalog?
Zadok2112 02-11-2008, 05:23 PM In the 90s Marc Almond, from Soft Cell, did an entire album of Brel material.
mhardy6647 02-11-2008, 06:10 PM did you look at allmusic?
similost 02-11-2008, 09:20 PM That song is bugging the hell out of me not knowing who did it.. I have just spent 3 hours intensly looking.. and my wife knows it too, but neither of us can think of who it is..

WOW! Thanks! Don't let it bug you! I just love it, but still am in the dark about it, because I cannot find a Rare Earth Discography that lists it.....:scratch2:
similost 02-11-2008, 10:17 PM I think I have it, but can't find a smaple. The rest of their music and sound fits.. Rare Bird.. and my wife kept saying the byrds (which I knew it wasn't) earlier when we were trying to figure it out..
similost 02-11-2008, 10:21 PM Check out this page David

vinyldavid 02-11-2008, 10:32 PM I KNOW RARE BIRD! It makes sense...looking harder! I'ma kick myself HARD if I got this LP.
similost 02-11-2008, 10:33 PM If that's it.. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
vinyldavid 02-11-2008, 10:35 PM Nope. NOT on Somebody's Watching.
I will email someone who knows someone who has a LOT of Rare Bird LP's and see....
similost 02-11-2008, 10:37 PM It's on "Born Again"
vinyldavid 02-11-2008, 11:01 PM I just got an email back from a guy I know. he says that he KNOWS that it is by Rare Earth....hmmmm....sounds a LOT more like Rare Bird, tho...:scratch2:
He might have the Lp somewhere, so we'll know for sure then.
similost 02-11-2008, 11:08 PM Don't think so on the Rare Earth... especially seeing it's a KSHE classic by rare bird.. I knew I heard the song a lot on KSHE, and that's why I had to figure out who did it.. .. my wife remembers hearing it a lot too...
Look up the song on Allofmusic, and you won't see rare earth listed.. only rare bird..

Hmmmmm.........I'll show him this thread......see what happens. :scratch2:
similost 02-12-2008, 11:39 AM I found one VERY small clip of the first couple notes... and then lost the link.. but it did confirm,, it is Rare Bird - Peace of Mind...
similost 02-12-2008, 11:45 AM I also found this on Amazon as a review for the CD.. Interesting.. This is also why I had spent so much time looking for the name of it... because I knew the song well from KSHE... It was one of their staples..
"I've been looking for the song Peace of Mind, by Rare Bird, for years on CD. This is one of my all time favorite songs, and a song which was once on legendary St. Louis Radio Station KSHE 95 Klassics list. But it has not been available for years. I don't know why. Peace of Mind, is, IMHO, a fantastic song, good enough to be listed with the all time classic, and on par with anything by the Beatles, Stones, Who, etc. The 60's and 70's had so many awesome groups, that Rare Bird somehow fell through the cracks, and never really hit it big before they broke up. But they are probably better then 99% of the groups nowadays."

If you can stand streaming radio quality, try streaming from
www.kshe95.com
www.kdhx.org (those people are ALL OVER THE PLACE, they play everything)  My absolute favorite station, and you get exposed to tons of new music
www.k-hits.com
The Point is a metal station now....I really don't like what they play.
Remember John Ulett? Still here, still on the radio!
From what I have heard (and admittedly, this is not much) around the country, I like our radio better. Not to start a fight, or bash anyone, but that's just me.
similost 02-12-2008, 07:27 PM The point has always been a heavey and metalish kinda station.. the reason I liked it so much..
