Having played a bit of war3 beta, i can say - it rocks! They kept all the fun elements of warcraft 2, and tweaked it a little.

Game has been slanted so that massive armies are quite unlikely. This helps prevent the usual stall where players collect lots of resources and just build huge armies - never attacking because both sides seem too powerful for each other.

Also the heros are an awesome addition - apart from the spells & abilities, they give you a very valuable asset for combat - something you want to protect... after a few heros have fallen, one quickly learns to keep them alive!

yeah. can't wait for it to hit the stores...

I have never played the Warcraft series ...

I was planning on picking up a copy of Morrowind this w/e but I just haven't got around to it (my parents are visiting:eek: ) ...

It looks pretty good from the little I have seen of it ... 200+ hours of free from gameplay.

Anyone seen/played Morrowind? Good value?

A friend of mine (whose house I happened to be at yesterday) has Morrowind. Didnt see much of it - looked quite nice visually, and would probably have a lot of interesting storyline and bits.

Let us (me) know how you get on with it when you do play it...

I played Warcraft/2 Starcraft too, there are OK not my cups of tea I am more into FPS games, I have been playing CounterStrike since Beta 3 and recently completed the single player versions of RTCW and Jedi 2. I do have a stick and a force feedback wheel so I play some flight games and like to get hammered and do some racing. I am anxiously awaiting being able to afford GTA 3 and Medal of Honor - Allied Assault. I am curently trying the demo for Freeedom Force and think its pretty neat also.

MOHAA is great - I just finished that about 2 weeks ago. The Normandy beach scene in particular is like being interactive with the opening scene in Saving Private Ryan.

The only grumble I have with these games based on the Quake 3 engine is that there is no support for gamespads/joysticks, which means that when the action gets intense, you find yourself fumbling around on the keyboard sometimes.

Thor - if Warcraft isn't your thing, then Morrowind probably won't be either. But having said that, Morrowind is so good in terms of it's visuals/graphics that you might make get a kick out of it anyway (from what I have heard anyway).

Of course, Doom3 is going to be the big one, but its like waiting for the next AMD processor - delayed indefinitely ...

:D

Walt you must not play FPS much then because the keyboard/mouse combo is way may effective for control in FPS games. If you are mostly a gamepad gamer making the transition is tough tho. I am on the opposite end of the spectrum tho when I try to play FPS games on consoles using a gamepad I have a hell of a time.

Thor - maybe ... although I played Quake 1/2 and they used to support j/sticks. Maybe I just have fat fingers, although I can't work out how they'd be fatter than yours??!! :D :D :D

Never did get into Q3 much, so MOHAA is my first real dip back into FPS gaming.

I started out playing mostly sims, then into strategy (Civ series), and then into FPS, now into RPG a bit more. I am pretty flexible, I guess I'm just still getting used to the k/b mouse combo.

Yeah I used to play Counter-Strike competetivly my clan was the STA champions for a while and we got invited to play in CAL main. But I had to step back from that, I was playing 4+ hours per day. I still hop on and play for fun now and then. Try dling the new Freedom Force Demo it is a really neat kinda game. Also in the FPS arena Jedi II is just a blast to play, lightsabers rule!
