It's his "1000 Years of Popular Music" tour.
My girl (lady) friend is a real fan of RT, I never heard anything about him until the last several years. (my loss)
It was an excellent show, in both educational & entertainment value.
It was a three piece band, RT & two very talented women.
The lady playing drums was great to watch, she definitely earned her money!
The lady who sang & played keyboards has an excellent voice.
Sorry I don't have names for these two, I may add them later.
They did a version of Nelly Furtado's "Maneater" that was totally bizarre.
It had a middle section with Latin vocals!
I'm glad I'm familiar with the original through my 16 year old daughter.
When I got the tickets, I didn't know what kind of show this was going to be, I assumed it was Richard doing his songs.
When my girlfriend told me about the whole "1000 years" thing, I wondered what I'd gotten myself into.
I'm happy to say it was not what I feared!
I mean, c'mon, Richard Thompson doing ABBA tunes, along with material from Cole Porter, the Beatles, the Kinks, etc?
That was the second half of "new" music!
The first half was OLD music, written before our great-great-great grandparents, or the USA, or the UK, in some cases, were born.
But the three pulled it off with style, humor, and a lot of talent.
If you're a music fan, not just a Richard Thompson fan, check this out.
I'm glad I did.

I too have discovered Thompson late in life. He's great. He's also nuts.
If you can find it, get 'Daring Adventures' from '86. "A Bone Through Her Nose" is worth the cost of admission. Also his Fairport Convention stuff.
I'm still coming across new stuff of his; did a bunch with ex-wife Linda too.

I saw Thompson live as part of a festival called "Artscape" in Baltimore. You can just tell when a performer has talent, and it was very obvious that Thompson had it.

geadhound? What a thing to call someone!
I'm west of Springfiled, IL.
The only other band I saw there was the Reverend Horton Heat.

oops.. I'm sorry.. I was taking lots of cold medicine when I typed that and my brains wasn't engaged..

wow.. so you traveled a little bit to see that show.. cool..

One of the cool bands I had seen there was a local St. Louis band called Tin Horn.. the sound in that place was spectacular for them..

I miss all the great shows I used to see at Pop's .. Thin Lizzy, ICP, Apartment 26, Seven Dust, Jackel, man.. the list goes on pretty long.. the best place to see shows in STL I always thought..
