BULLWINKLE 02-13-2008, 09:12 AM "O'Brother Where Art Thou" is a great soundtrack.

yes dont under estimate the cotc soundtrack. I was blown away by it.
I used to have the conan soundtrack when i was a kid. It fell victim to theft along with all my LPs about 3 months ago. That is what got me back into this hobby. Still waiting for hte insurance co to get back to me on a settlement. What a pain to lose all your vinyl though......all those years collecting and now it is all gone. All those thrill of the hunt finds you had when you were a kid sifting through the stacks everywhere you go.....ugh....
jonman 02-13-2008, 10:33 AM The soundtrack to the movie Sounder, from around 72. It featured mostly Taj Mahal, with a couple tunes by Lightnin' Hopkins
BULLWINKLE 02-13-2008, 02:25 PM Yes, OBWAT is on a 2 lp set.

KeninDC 02-13-2008, 02:47 PM Pink Floyd's soundtrack to the film More
Big fan of the Floyd's soundtrack work. I also enjoy "Obsured by Clouds" and their stuff in Zabriskie Point.
"More" on a UK Harvest LP is one of the last remaining gaps in my Floyd LP collection.
And when I'm feeling more funky than spacey, I've got an original Buddha Records LP of "Super Fly."

Duck, You Sucker
Once Upon A Time In the West is a must.
I also enjoy the soundtrack for Emmanuelle. The music is quite good.

How did I forget that one! I use that as my demo LP.
jonman 02-13-2008, 05:03 PM Some more good ones are, Mo' Better Blues (Lots of r and b classics) The Commitments (Soul Covers) and Streets of Fire.
JerryM 02-13-2008, 05:05 PM Speaking of Vangelis, don't forget Blade Runner. One of the most stirring and atmospheric movie scores ever.
2 others:
The Big Chill. Nothing you can't find elsewhere, but still a fine collection of baby boomer rock songs.
9 1/2 Weeks. Joe Cocker doing "You Can Leave Your Hat On" is worth the price of admission.

God, I hated that movie....I remember seeing it in high school with a gal I was seeing at the time. It was about the worst movie I'd ever had to sit thru. :boring: Well, except for "Out of Africa". :D
For months, I had that stupid theme song stuck in my head and the visual of the music video for that song with those guys running on the beach or whatever it was. Hated it ever since!

no1maestro 02-13-2008, 09:55 PM For orchestral, don't overlook "Country" on Windham Hill; one of the finest rock-orchestral recordings especially the cut "Homecoming" and "The Auction".

pmsummer: Does one from heart sound like a Tom Waits album? Cause I love Tom Waits, but not so much Crystal....I've seen sealed copies of this and passed. Maybe it's time to reconsider this one.
Also I would vote for the soundtrack to Louis Malle's "Pretty Baby" (I think it's fairly hard to com by on vinyl these days.) and Ry Cooder's work on the "Crossroads" OST. Brilliant music!
Zeromancer 02-14-2008, 11:43 AM ive been looking to pick up a copy of the explorers! I havent heard that in years! Good one!
