Hi fellas, I found a bunch of VT25s and VT52s in the bottom of a box of tubes I was sorting today. They look like something that could be good for SET (by looking at the plates structures). Anyone have any ideas or experience with these. Here's a pic of a couple of them.:scratch2:

hey-Hey!!!,
VT25 is the 10 or 801A. Nice Thoriated Tungsten cathode and mu of 9, plate Z of ~5k or so. Keep those...:) (or perhaps send them to me).
cheers,
Douglas

VT-52 = 45. Both are very rare and expensive now...

Gordon.

If you're old enough (and maybe from the Northeast or Midatlantic), "VT-52" will always conjure up memories of a Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC) video display terminal...

Ha, I've got 3 VT-100s, a DECwriter, and a PDP-11 stashed away in my basement.

But anyway... Those tubes are worth serious $$$, so I'd immediately sell them.

Both make good low powered SETs.

And naturally, if you want to know about the VT-52, you go to VT52.com:

Those VT tubes--AKA 45s, are very unstable, and are tempermental at best. Best not used in SE and SRPP apps, I say. Stick to sweep tubes and 2A3s is my suggestion. Any of those worthless 45s I'll take off your hands for a few bucks a tube and shipping. :D

Cool find. :tresbon: Have you started amp building yet? Those could be candidates for the trip to AKFest. :D
