I just got a reel out, and it is a KSHE tribute ot Gypsy from long ago, apparently when they reunited.....I think. Couldn't find any info on the reuniting from the web. Every thing's from vinyl, and I don't know the DJ, so it's WAY older than I.
It's a female Disk Jockey.

I like it, and wondered if anyone ever heard this broadcast, or even knows of the band.....:scratch2:. It's great that someone taped this, even though it's only 48 minutes of it.

Rock Classics from KSHE 95, a Tribute to Gypsy.

Has an OLD ad for "Ram Broadcast" paging machines....The Beeper people.

Anyone know of this band?

I just emailed the webamster of the Gypsy fan site about the tape.

It seems that there is a Gypsy collector in STL.

Gypsy very nearly became a BIG THING in the early 70s...always a great band to see live. Did many shows here in the Upper Midwest.

Well...being from St. Louis and a fan of KSHE there is no way I don't know about Gypsy.

Go on KSHE's site and contact them. The have the Real Rock Museum and that up on there site and may like to have a copy of that broadcast for there archives. Heck...They may already have it but I'm sure they'd answer your questions.

David,

You probably heard the US-based Gypsy who released the album American Gypsy in 1970. My copy is a 2LP set UK release on the CBS label. This US Gypsy was a "West Coast" psych outfit. Note there is also a prominent(ly obscure) UK band named Gypsy, a heavy & hard riffing progressive outfit who released an album called Brenda & The Rattlesnake in 1972. The sound of UK Gypsy is definitely not dreamy, wasted West Coast psych.

I assume you mean these guys. Their first two albums were on the Metromedia label. The first (S/T) and the second one, "In The Garden". Both albums are excellent. The first one received much airplay in these parts with "Gypsy Queen" and "Dead And Gone".

I got an email back from the Gypsy webmaster, and he and James Walsh want copies.....so this might be interesting. Glad I got a good cassette deck.
