I mentioned something about this when I asked about the lack of anti skating. I can find nothing about this turntable so thought you might like to see it for yourself. It is a very heavy belt drive, looks like it could be shot and still work flawlessly. On the back it says 100 volts and 50 cycles. I don't have a strobe disk so I haven't checked the speed. Also, I have no belt so will have to figure out what size to get and where to get it. It is so interesting that I have to get this going. Oh yes, the cartridge and no identifiers on it, anywhere. I will look again because I can't believe that myself.
Got it for $5, you quessed it, at a garage sale.
OK, I took four pictures with my digital camera. They are too big to attach. I don't know how to get them smaller, I'm not that computer savy. Any help will be appreciated.

Host your pictures to a free service like Photobucket (.com) which will resize your image for you. Plus, doing it like that takes up no server space at AK and we get to see a big picture without clicking on it! If you use Photobucket, you'll just attach the Image file which is a file that looks like this from their site. [img]...(picture here)....[img].

Worked like a champ. Very cool looking TT...I haven't seen one of those Onkyo's in a long time. Very nice...

Unless there's a voltage selector switch, this 100v 50Hz turntable (Japanese line characteristics) will be overpowered by a 120v 60Hz AC line voltage. This may cause overheating of the motor.
That said, check the pulley. The 50Hz pulley will be 20% larger in diameter than the 60Hz pulley, and music will play correspondingly 20% fast.
Lack of anti-skate in a fairly heavy arm, such as is depicted in the photos -- nice photos by the way -- will likely result in skipping and will over time be damaging to the inner walls of the grooves.

The power cord has an American style plug attached to cut cords. that indicates the original plug was foreign and replaced.
I looked again and the plate on the back says 100 volts 50/60 cycles. That makes me believe that it may be a DC motor and it converts whatever frequency is applied into Dc. I haven't taken it apart to inspect it. I am hoping a fellow karma member knows these things.
The tone arm does look heavy. The cartridge stylus pulls forward and down and has a diamond shaped brase tube like a shure. Could this be some kind of shure cartridge? Patrick
