JonTee in In BrianB's room. BrianB the hardest working AK member - got in at 2 AM and setup until 6 AM. Broke down the room after 4:30 PM and drove back to Bloomington, IN that night.

I wanted to thank Bauhausler for the use of his tube rig. (Actually for letting me take it over, in reality I was a rig hog!!!!
It was great to do a speaker comparison - his Rogers LS3/5A's with my Rogers LS2's and my Royd Envoys. It was an interesting English speaker shootout!!
We should really set a local British speaker comparison in the near future - any takers??
Maybe we should start setting up small local AK events - any other comments???

Mike, I did listen to the Almarro M33A's hooked up to the single ended 5 wpc integrated, Almarro A205A. Amazingly full sound from such small speakers, two 4" neodymium magnet drivers. Briefly heard some full orchestra being played thru them, lots of detail and smoothness (no crossovers?). I think you will be pleased.
A great gathering of audio nuts this was.... Grumpy, Kam, Wardsweb, BrianB, people who brought their own equipment, the wives who helped out, on this event deserve great accolades for a job well done.:bigok:
Bot, I'll take you up on that British speaker challenge with a pair of vintage Wharfedale W70's and some American Sherwood iron;) . Local and regional gatherings (like Grumpy's fest) would be great...a good way to share our obsession.
Jon:)
That I heard from the modest setup Brian had with the Almarro's was very impressive. In some ways I preferred it to the "Abby System". I also think you'll be happy. I just added a photo in my thread. MikE

I'd be glad to do a BritSpeaker session. I have Lowthers, the Rogers LS3/5As, Harbeth Compact 7es, if I fix the woofs, the Benjamin/EMI oval coaxes and the famous Leak Sandwich speakers. The latter for who knows how long. They're on eBay right now and might go away. I even have a representative UK integrated amp, a Creek CAS4040. Sold the 50 watt Onix, though.
I'd like to hear those Wharfedales. I know someone who I can talk into loaning 15" Tannoy concentrics, but I'd have to refoam them first. That will be a thing to hear.
I have plenty of room here and a tolerant spouse as well.
By the way, the fellow in the foreground of the first pic in this thread is Tin Ear, a local who turned out to be a very close friend of my recently deceased father in law. I understand why they were pals now. A great listener and a faultless craftsman in metal. The skinny grey haired geek iin the extreme left background is me, edging out of the frame not quite quickly enough.
