Hoping for a little help from those that are more familiar with some of the different vintage turntables.

I've got an old Columbia Grafonola cabinet in my den that I'm outfitting as an entertainment center. So far I've got it set up with a super little Marantz 2015 receiver and I'm feeding a Philips DVP3960 into it. (Yeah, the Philips isn't vintage, but it fills the need for both a CD player and a DVD player, it fits the narrow cabinet, and it actually sounds halfway decent.) On each side of my cabinet I've got a pair of KLH 32's with a pair of ADC 404X's sitting on top of them. Really a great little den system!!

Now I'm wanting to add a turntable to the mix. My big problem is that the cabinet opening in the top is only 15 1/2 inches wide. There are a few turntables I've seen listed on sites that would fit like the Audio Technica AT-PL50, but I'd really like to have something a little more vintage to hang out with the Marantz and the KLH's & ADC's. Are there any turntables from the 70's or 80's that would fit my space limitations?

Thanks for any help or info!!

The Technics SL-10 direct-drive, linear-tracking turntable would fit nicely.

I have 4 in my collection that are under 15 1/2" wide. A Denon DP-11F, Miracord 630, Philips 312 (a 212 would be the same size), and a Technics SL-J11D (a linear tracker). These aren't necessarily as easy to find as many vintage tables, but the point is that there are some out there. All of these came from yard sales or Craigslist.

Vintage? Not as vintage as your Columbia Grafonola but an old dual 1019 and many other duals would drop in no problem. Back in the day you could by them without a plinth for the purpose of dropping into a console. They came with a cutout template to cut the openings in the board it sets on. If you find a dual with a beat up united audio base just salvage the top board, cut sides to fit, add some shelf brackets to grafonola opening and you are good to go. Many TTs of the console era would probably drop in easily as well.

Thorens TD-150 Mk1/2. Easy to mount your tonearm of choice on, too, if you should feel the urge to upgrade.
