I wonder why did McIntosh moved away from THX certification on the MX119, 120, 135, 136, etc. The MX prior to those had it.

Maybe McIntosh performance is superior to the THX Spec, which is, lets be honest, more a marketing tool that would cost McIntosh a licensing fee, than a real standard...oops, did I just say that.

You may be right. I think that for equipment to carry the THX logo, they had to be "certified" to meet certain sound criteria. I remember my MX134 had THX levels marked on the meters, but they were so grotesquely high that even Ivan would say "turn it down"! :lmao:

I would love to know what the criteria is to get certified (no, not the cost of the licensing :) )
