Hello all, this is my first post on the Mac forum.I have been on the Marantz and pioneer forum for a while but have a opportunity to buy some vintage McIntosh equipment and would like some guidance.I have always admired Mac from a distance but now have a chance to buy a pair of MC-60 amps a C-22 preamp and a MR-71 tuner. All in excellent original condition. The chrome and lettering is in great condition. The system is hooked up and i listened to it for about an hour.Im very impressed by the clarity and warm sound.Since the asking price is in the thousands and i have to move quickly if anyone who knows Mac equipment well and is available to call me or e-mail me about my potential purchase i would be grateful... samova@comcast.net or 404 409-6242 cell..Thank you

If they are all original, they'll be an excellent setup. You will need to plan on spending some additional $$ to have them restored, however.

I'd suggest you contact Terry Dewick via his link below and chat with him about how much it typically costs for a full rebuild. Once that's done, you'll be good to go.

Wish I had that sort of luck as you......depending on the asking price, don't let it slip by.

Cheers,

David

Thanks David,i called Terry and he was very nice.Answered all my questions and gave me some prices for basic cleaning and also complete rebuilding..I went ahead and bought the equipment and will pick it up on saturday. It pays to stop at Estate sales even though this system did not come cheap it was still a good value..I have been listening to music thru a USA built solid state Marantz amp that has 125watts per channel..Sounds very clean and warm to my ears. What should i expect different in a Mac tube system vs. solid state?
