Just caught wind that McIntosh has been forced to have a PRICE INCREASE to cover the rising costs to build our favorite equipment on the planet!!!
Just FYI - So if you guys have been looking at certain Mc gear , PULL THE TRIGGER before the cost increase happens.

If true, nothing new. McIntosh has been consistently raising prices for the past 40+ years. They will continue to do so as long as the market will bare. Also, 'blue sky' buyouts can be expensive.

Once you get your amplification stages you're all set. From what I have read on this forum and audio mags McIntosh does not do too well with sources.
(the MCD 201 comes to mind)
I have a c220 and an mc252 and am "happy" with these but no more mac gear for me.

I like the attack rat avatar, they do make wonderful pets and they can watch over our beloved Mac gear. He/she looks like it's been well fed.

Howie, You're just going to have to make a choice, do you want to breathe air under water without a tank or listen to great music? :scratch2:

What's so funny.????
I don't have any of these but from what I read here....
The noise the MCD 201 makes in between songs when it (if) plays, I read the reviews on the MS750 along with the 300 "fan noise"
You would think for the amount of money they are asking these items would be better
Just my 2 cents....

I think you answered your own question. I do own every one of Mac's Sources and they are Spectacular!

Is there some way to confirm whether this price increase is occurring/when it is occurring/how much it will amount to? Aside from anecdotal evidence that prices inevitably rise if you wait long enough?

was just 'joking' (not really, but not this soon), I've just bought Thiels, 17 year olds aren't supposed to be able to afford things like this :D
a MC402 would be a nice future vision though

Okay, so they raise the prices -- fact of life, I guess in these economically depressed days --- the real question is:
Any one have an idea by what percentage?? (I doubt it will be a two digit increase).

Are you sure? I think it may be on some products.

I'm expanding on previous comments on this topic -- someone stated across the board -- all I'm saying is if there is a increase coming, whether across the board or on individual items -- in this economy, it's not unlikely ---BUT does anyone know percentage increase & is it "across the board" or selected product units.
That's the real question!!
To top it off, someone starts another thread -- "hey help, need to make decision before price increase". That subject line along with this one sure aids the psychological mindset a PRICE INCREASE IS COMING -- DOOMSDAY is approaching (when in fact once the FACTS are known, it may be miniscule).

Oh well, that's the price of admission. I think most will agree with me on this one:
Of all the Toys I spend & waste money on, I get the most pleasure, usage & bang for the buck from my Mac gear / Home Theater. :thmbsp:

I haven't seen anything mentioned yet that is not available on the used market for the price conscious either. :D

I think it would benefit everyone and the product line if hearsay, especially in regards to MONEY is squashed until FACTS are known.
In all cases, price increases are sent to dealers 45-60 days out because of quotes out to clients, etc. Not all dealers have received this information yet -- let it shake out and everyone will know shortly what is & what isn't affected (if at ALL).

I purchase raw materials for coatings also steel and plastic containers sad to inform steel up 15% large increases in plastic and resin prices anything connected with oil!
I would guess costs @ McIntosh are up at least 8-12% since last increase:sigh:

Just good old natural inflation of about 2-3% per year means the average Mc piece should go up by $100-200 annually anyway; not even taking into consideration the commodities.

So, Ron-C, apart from "Bingo!", can you give us some information on how much the raise is going to be, and when it is going to be effective?

Not always, McIntosh increased the price of the MA6500 from $3,100 to $4,000, or nearly 30%, just to make room for a $3,000 price entry point for the MA6300. Also, by repositioning the price of the MA6500, it will be easier now (less obvious) to increase the price again for the upcoming MA6600 to the rumored $5,000 range. Should the new MA6600 be introduced at $5,000, this will represent a 60+% increase over the previous price of the MA6500. It is my understanding that the the MA6600 will have the same 200 watts/channel and DC design. :thumbsdn:
