You have no idea how I feel for you Cadd.... I look at my cat every day, and I know her time is limited more than mine.. I told my wife last week I can't imagine the day she isn't with us...

I hope you get to feeling better... I know it is one hell of a hole in the heart...

I've lost several cats that were my best friends... It's painful...

My heart goes out to you. I lost a cat that I had since 1993 a few months ago so I know how you feel. May your old friend rest in piece.

Sorry to hear about this folks . At least you were able to give them peace at the end . Take solice in that . It's never easy but give them the love they deserve and remember the good times . And near the end don't let them suffer .
We lost our dog Cher in 04' she was a 100 lb . Border Collie crossed with Horse and the Comic Relief of the pack . That's when we rescued Bert 3 weeks later . He was severley abused now he's the Clown/Chew Toy for whatever pup we bring home .
After some healing go find yourselves another pup/cat that may be in a shelter and his days are numbered and give him a loving home . Not a replacement , that can't be done but you can give another animal a chance at a great life !
Take care ,
Steve

:tears:It always hurts to lose a good friend, either two or four legged. Remember the fun you had together, and be comforted that your friend is no longer feeling any pain.

Condolences to you Caddis. I know hard that can be. We had to say goodbye to Rocky our Springer Spaniel about a month ago after 15 years with our family. Spencer is probably terrorizing Rocky now. He was afraid of nothing except cats.

Take care,
Carl

So, so, so sorry pal. I have had to say goodbye to pets along the way in life. Each one with their own personality and way that they found to so tightly weave themselves into our lives. Our pets love us unconditionally and each in their own special way. I just keep telling myself that they will all be waiting for me along with my all of loved ones the last time I close my eyes on this earth.

Thanks so much for sharing and allowing us to reach out with you. Believe me that we do understand. You will always remember her and she was so lucky to have you to take care of her. Sending you a big hug and our condolences from Baja...

I lost one of my cats the day after Christmas. She was a Manx and lived 14 years. I will miss that little friend for some time to come.

Sorry to hear of your loss. It seems like there are many pet owners on this board, who certainly seem to recognize pets as an important part of any family. Tell us, we understand.

The passing of Mona, our family dog, a few years ago can still be upsetting when I think about it.

Hang in there.

Sorry to hear of your loss. I've lost one of the Yorkies in my aviator, the second Yorkie is now on "dementia" medication, so I know my day is coming to make that very difficult decision.

I always believe when you take good care of a pet, they will send you a new one when the time is right. Keep your eyes open, your cat friend will send you a needy kitty who needs love.

Take care -

It's such a hard thing to do, I feel for you. Last August I had to put down our 19 year old cat The Outlaw Josey Wales (Josey for short). He was such a cool cat and we (even the dogs) miss him. We have lots of great memories of him as I'm sure you have of Spencer and when the pain dulls they will make you smile :thmbsp: :pawprint:

Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

I know exactly how you feel.:tears: I lost my "garden" cat last month. She was a foundling Manx (long story/died of pneumonia at 8 yrs) who loved to hang out with me in our garden. She had a horrible meow, more of a croak than anything else. I miss hearing her. I never thought I would feel like this about a pet.
Her, like yours, will always be in my memories.

Thanks everyone for your kind words, the kids are doing OK but our staffie Daisy (who looked up to spencer as top dog of the yard) is just starting to work it out. About 8 years ago we lost our border collie Zac to a brain tumor (he was our kid before kids, and we are still feeling his loss, but only happy memories now). He and Spencer were best buddies and she took it pretty hard. When the times right we may have to get a new little pal for Daisy.

Cheers
Steve

You are among friends that do understand. I am sure that there are lots of good times to remember. And now, even the not so good times can make for some good memories. The pain will fade and the sorrow will diminish somewhat, but the memories will last a lifetime.

My condolences to you and yours.

My condolences on your loss! Our kaynine and feline companions become part of our family and their loss is felt just as accutely as the loss of close family members. The only thing I can think is that God must have a reason for them to have a so much shorter life than us and maybe that is so we have the opportunity to know more than one. You never get over the loss, you just get used to living with it. But I'm so glad to have had the opportunity to know them! Again, my condolences on your loss.

I'm so sorry for your loss! As many on AK know, I'm a real hardass about many things, but I'm a softie when it comes to animals, particularly household pets. I can understand the pain you're feeling. :sigh:

I still miss Kato (see my avatar), and I know our other cat Buster is getting on in years (18 now) and that he won't be with us forever. I just hope some other deserving critter enters your life and benefits from your kindness for many years to come. I'm convinced it's why we're put on earth.

Never had a cat, but I've lost several dogs, and a snapping turtle.
I hope to see them on the other side. Well, maybe not the turtle,
he was a mean SOB.

Well, I'm sorry to hear of Spencers passing.
Sounds like he was truly loved.

Condolences.

Ours died in October at 17...Very sad day.

We got a kitten in January as a buddy to the brother left behind. The new cat is absolutely hilarious...bounces off the walls and has the personality to boot!
