I picked some gear up including a pair of large two way Mitsubishi speakers. They have Diatone drivers in them, not that that means anything.
Anyway, the bass sounded like it was canceled out. I thought I had polarity backwards. I did not. I pulled the woofers and found one wired with polarity reversed.
Swapped connections and we have bass.
I wonder how the guy I got them from thought they sounded all the years he had them.
Oh well.

I don't think he knew that much. He took in his amp and preamp for service for some problem. Turns out he was misusing the switched and unswitched outlets on the preamp.
The amp even has a tag on its cord that states "plug into switched outlet only.
As for the music he listened to, well, I guess punk of some sort. When I got home I found a CD in the CD player. The Twots. That is the bands name. Sorry for the profanity.

Sorry, Robisme.....I have a thing for bizarre, obnoxious, rude, and otherwise disgusting names for bands...(band names). You have uncovered a true winner.... did you dare to attempt to listen to the CD?
I MUST google this.... I thank you for the best laugh of the day....:D:D.....willhowl
PS... OMG!!!! It's a real band.... San Francisco based.... have their own website.... I'm stunned.....W:sigh:

I did listen to it. The vocals were poor, but the music was OK.
I would classify it as light punk. I gave it to my daughter to listen to. Maybe she will like it.

Diatone stuff was some of the flagship mitsu speaker line if memory serves. Do a search, you may have found quite the score.

Isn't that what I said?
I was referring to his original statement in which he seemed like the speakers were nothing too special.
I would hate to see them stuffed in a closet LOL.

Not arguing, just pointing out that the Diatone name was/is used in Japan, and Mitsubishi was the named use for US equipment.
