Does anyone know when we can start seeing the 2008 models of receivers and equipment? I'm getting my tax returns any day now and I'd like to get the Onkyo TX-SR875, but if the new models will be coming out in the next month or so (I think the 07's came out in april?) I can wait a month for that. However, I've noticed the prices falling online. Now i'm not really sure what to get!!! lol

Also, I might get a Blu Ray player sometime in the near future and Onkyo has an HD-DVD but not Blu Ray... how important do you think matching componants really is other than asthetically?

some makes have a few non-essential conveinence features such as one remote, but other than that I don't think it's critical. FWIW I've always been a fan of Denon and will buy one of thier Blu-Ray machines when $ allows.

Sold HT gear back in the 90s and these dates still seem to be used: usually old gear starts being cleared out right about now and the new stuff starts trickling in at the end of March.

Onkyo's receivers received a visual facelift last year and a bunch of models started including decoders for TrueHD and other HD disc audio formats, so there's a decent chance the new models will be about the same. I'll bet more will include XM and Sirius sat radio capability (if they don't already). Even Sherwood's - sort of the Chevy of the receiver world to me :) - new receiver (http://www.sherwoodusa.com/prod_rd7502.html) includes at least XM.

I like Onkyo and I'm looking forward to using the ReonHQV chip for decoding visuals when I get the Blu Ray player, but I was hoping the 2008 models might have that chip in the SR706 or SR806 model rather than paying for the bigger bucks in the SR876 or SR906 (if they stick to the models from 2007 as a guide). I'd also like to see Onkyo put out a 7.2 AVR rather than just the 7.1 so I dont have to get a sub amp to bridge it to two subwoofers. I have an underpowered sub now and rather than paying more big bucks for 1 good sub, i'd rather add a mid-range sub to the system and set the crossovers to where each can handle a different load. Boston Acoustics makes something called an SA1 for an amp that I would like to take a look at. Of course my wife has the final say on how much of the tax return I get to spend on home theater window shopping.

I just got a message back from Onkyousa.com and they said that they wont release the information on when this year's models will come out. But thank you to Radshak for letting me know that i was close to right that they are going to start closing out the 07's now and by the end of march we'll see the first of the new models.
