No not Sgt. (Big Toe) Hulka, my Yamaha R9 Receiver. I really don't know spit about SS componants, but the only visible damage is on one of the componants that is attached to the heat sink. The sink has 8 big black chip looking suckers and 4 smaller such things. 2 green and two black. 1 of the green ones melted out a lead.

1) I have the manual for the R9 so I know the specs, but I would appreciate any feedback on the unit, and what it might be worth.

2) What componants attach to the heat sink?

3) Is it likely or possible that this one chip could fry, or is there probably more damage. I know the best anyone can do is an educated guess with my weak technical description.

Thanks, Alan

As noted they are the output transistors, green ones are usually 2SA types, the black 2SC type, although they will only be marked Annn or Cnnn. May have overheated in Class A mode.
