So I thought I would share my personal listening space with you. I have a converted garage, which is in a constant state of evolution.

I don't have the Marantz 2200b out here, as it's in my bedroom. Nor do I have the Marantz 2275 back from the shop yet, if I did, it would be on the rack. :)

First, my beloved Denon DP-61F. This was my first piece of equipment that got me started on the road to Audiokarma. I picked it up at the Santa Cruz flea market. When I bought it from the guy, my girlfriend at the time said "Did you see his face when we walked away? It looked like we bought his only child."

My *new* Pioneer SX-1250. I already love this monster!

Far right corner. Yes, the vaneer is missing in spots. :)

Far left corner, more vaneer missing! I need to fix those up!

Relaxing corner! AKA the left corner.

Thanks for stopping by! Let me whip you up a Mai-Tai or a Zombie.

Very cool brah. Love all that Hawaiian stuff! I have that print behind the plant too. Fun collection and very nice looking Denon!

You have to mix up a Blue Hawaii. Mai Tais were invented in Oakland! :D

Aloha!

Mai-Tai's invented in Oakland? Now that depends on who you ask really. LOL

Was it Donn Beach of Don the Beachcomber's fame or was it Oakland's favorite Hinky Dink, Trader Vic...ah the legend lives on....

Puts the "cool" into Cool... thanks for sharing. '... bought his only child'- adopted out to a loving new parent, methinks.

That is a very true statement. :) I absolutely love this turntable, even if it is direct drive.

When I upgraded the stylus, it cost me four times what the record player did. I am contemplating upgrading the current Denon DL-110 to a Denon DL-103R. Can anyone suggest something better in the $300 price range?

So any advice on upgrading the Denon DL-110?

sweet! would love to kick back with a Pina Colada and listen to some vinyl. What's spinning today? Looks like a sizable collection.

I also have a Marantz 2275 and love it...but no tiki-lounge:no:

Cool looking room! I've heard SX-1250's sound better with Tiki in the room.

Very nice. Reminds me of an old comfortable shoe. I love rooms used for music that are also filled with "stuff" (reminds me of that George Carlin bit......) which makes it relaxing to spend time in.

When I read the thread title actually the first thing I thought of was the island-inspired lounge music (http://www.spaceagepop.com/) from the 50s and 60s, which I like quite a bit. I own some Martin Denny & Les Baxter albums and five CDs from this collection: www.ultralounge.com <--- has a great section with drink recipes, along with serving tips. :smoke:

Thanks for all of the compliments guys! The Tiki Bar is always open and is always fully stocked.

As for what's on tonight, I will post it in the vinyl only thread. A bit of Exotica and now something more heavy.

With all these folks in the Bay Area, I am thinking we should organize some record listening parties, maybe do some trading etc. For some reason I tend to forget what I buy and end up with the occasional duplicate.

Let me know what you think.

Oh and the best part of the Ultra-Tiki-Lounge, its a converted and fully detached garage. My closest neighbor is a furniture store, so volume is never an issue. :)

I'm definitely down for trading gear and records. Listening parties and speaker refoam sessions would also be cool. Let's get the party started!
