Saw a CL ad for a HP 302a wave analyzer yesterday for $10.

Jumped on it like stink on $hit, but was a little worried that I was an hour behind the posting. However, I got a call from the seller while driving home, and picked it up.

Interesting fellow, a retired electrical engineer. For an extra $10, he threw in a Houston Instrument Omnigraphic chart recorder that uses regular paper....:thmbsp:

If you look closely at the deck of the instrument, you'll see the little holes actually use a vacuum created by an internal fan to hold the paper in place. I believe this is a simple analog voltage driven chart recorder that interfaces seamlessly with the 302a.

Funny thing, this reminded me that I actually have a couple of HP analog chart recorders at work that are just collecting dust. however, they use special rolls of chart paper, so they may not be as useful....One may eventually wind up in my growing collection of HP equipment before they get thrown away....:D

Anyway, the analyzer works from 20-50K Hz, so it may wind up being useful for looking at amplifier response curves and so on...:D Oh yeah, did I forget to mention the HP 297a sweep generator that came on the 302a???

I'm starting to get all the stuff collected to open my audio repair business when I retire....

Guess now I need to win the lottery, or hope I live long enough to actually retire....:sigh:

I wouldn't know what any of that stuff is for, but it sure looks cool... and I bet it sold for a whole lot more than 20 bucks new!

Nice :thmbsp:
