Here's some pics of a nice Electrohome stereo EL84 Concord amp out of a console.

She's a beauty, and I bet she sounds like it too. I'm guessing one of the rectifiers was for the pre.:scratch2: Good lookin iron, and the layout really reminds me of some Voice of Music EL 84 console stuff.:music: Have you recapped it yet? That really brings these dudes back to life (or better).

I don't need to post now, Jay did it all for me (even down to the VM comments).

OK, I will post!
When Jay says "one of the rectifiers might have been for the pre" (I'm paraphrasing), I hope that implies that the dual rectifiers were needed because of current draw, and not that they powered separate filters/circuits. If there were separate circuits (highly unlikely, but anything's possible), I would mod the amp to make the dual 5u4 work exclusively for the amp section that it is attached to. You are not powering a preamp along with it, so you might as well gain the benefit of using all of the rectification you got for the thing you're still using.
I bet, as usual, I'm clear as mud.
Good luck!
