This is what I just posted on another thread. I personally like Free To Air. I like a more as a hobby than a way to watch TV:

1. There is legal FTA and there is illegal FTA.

A. Legal FTA is anything that is broacasting free to view either on C or Ku Band.

B. Illegal FTA is the un-authorized reception of any encrypted service.

2. Free To Air can be picked up with any Free To Air C Band or Free To Air Ku Band satellite receiver . (http://wsidigital.com/receivers.htm)
3. The size dish you need for Ku band is at least a 75cm or 30" dish (http://wsidigital.com/ws7630.htm). A 90cm dish or 36" dish (http://wsidigital.com/ws9036-90cm-36-inch-offset-fta-ku-satellite-dish.htm) is recommended to receive most satellites.

4. You can use a motorized dish system (http://www.galaxy-marketing.com/motorized-dish-kit-for-ku-and-fta-satellite.htm) to pick up multiple satellites.

A motorized satellite system is great to receive wild feeds, feeds from different stations and affiliates from different satellites and to see behind the scene stuff. You can broadcast on Ku Band FTA on radio band across all of N. America for less than $2000/mo. for 24 hours/day, everyday. It's good stuff!

A quick note guys; discussion of 'Illegal FTA' is NOT permitted on AudioKarma.

Thanks.
