The big one is a hamfest find that GF sent me in a hard to get socket (took me 6 months) next to one of my 300B globes made by TJ with a 12AU7 and a penny for perspective.

Not a tube but I liked this selenium rectifier and kept it.

I picked up a half dozen of these-

That is indeed cool. After seeing some interesting tubes this last weekend I have decided to collect a few and display them. I already have some labelled for Ford and a few other companies that make them pretty cool just from the logo on the base.
Big transmitters will be a bit harder as I don't often find the sockets to hold them.

I think it'd be nice to find a way to light up any display tubes you'd have. Not only do all my antique tube radios in my small collection look nice, they also operate like new (all been restored by my dad). If I was to ever have a single plate 2A3 or an 805 setup as a static display on my desk or shelf, imagine how much nicer it'd look if it was actually glowing!

Or I could just buy a pixie-tube digital clock display...then they'd all be on display and functioning too!;)

Thatch - those sockets are not hard to come by - suprised you had trouble. Is that a 211? looks to be a GE one.

that 575 is a nice merc. vapor rectifier - glows a sweet blue when in operation and drawing current. Think 866 times 10 as far as specs or so (mostly for higher current draw, slightly higher PIV).

Hopefully someday I will use 673s (same specs as 575s) in an amp to rectify... mostly for looks.

Ed,
Its not that the sockets are hard to find, it is just hard to find them dirt cheap. Since I want them just for bases I don't want to spend that much money. Big tube is a VT-4-C and the other a TJ 300B mesh plate. I roll the tubes in my 300B amp according to use. TJ mesh and RCA VT-229s for music, and Valve Art 300Bs and 5691s for HT. Soundscores sound pretty good in my HT.
