Any Sunfire owners?

Especially the Sunfire 300?

Anyone run Thiels on them?

Right now, a Denon POA at 150wpc ( they bench at 170 and 200, depending on which one- I have three).

I've been considering certain models from these three- B&K, PSE, and PS Audio, but Sunfire has caught my interest.

Real happy with my Cinema Grand. Easy to live with and listen to.

If I could find a signature 600 X2 or the signature II 625 or 600 x 2 I would jump on it!

I actually need one and have been looking.

The 300 x 2 is a fantastic sounding amp. I have heard people on either one have a ground loop problem sometimes but that is easily fixed my a product called humX.

Gotta say the the original Sunfire was certainly one of the most impressive amps I had heard when new. Don't know if it would still work with my "all tube" view of the world that I now have, but it would sure be fun to plug it into the current system and give it a listen.

I've have an original Sunfire 300 in my 2-channel home theater rig for almost 8 years. It's pushed everything from B&W to Magnepan without struggling. Great sounding, cool running amp.:music:

Always been a fan of Bob Carvers amps (tho his pre-Sunfire pre-amps have almost always sounded like ass), and Sunfire was the logical step forward for the man. Funnily, we probably owe the old pissed off tin ear Peter Aczel some credit for this. Back in the early days when Peter Aczel could still hear the difference in sound between amps and said so, he pushed Bob to make his m1.5 sound like a Mark Levinson ML-2, and so Bob starting actually listening to his, and improving the sound of his gear. With Bob being a total tube lover, the fact that the Sunfire ended up sounding like it did is not a surprise. Sadly, it looks like Bobs best days are behind him since selling off Sunfire.
Then again, you never know what he might come up with....

Let's hope so! I understand his subs are decent, but I've yet to hear one.

My Sunfire replaced a Carver TFM-35x. The Sunfire is a much better sounding amp, IMHO.

Having owned and listened to a ton of Carver gear (still have a mint 1.0t as a backup), I agree totally. The Sunfire gear was a huge step up in sound quality.

Agree here, too! Going from a Carver TFM-45 to the Signature 600~Two was a noticeable improvement.

If you are constrained to a very small space, they can be competent. If you have some space, they are fairly easily bested.

Nice inovative and compact designs but they sure call attention to themselves in any system I have heard them in. It might of been a set-up thing though.

When you are trying to create bass, you need to move a lot of air. I'd rather have a large driver remaining very linear than a small driver getting fed thousands of watts, suffering from thermal compression, and flailing wildly trying to do what a large driver will be loafing to accomplish. :)
