ckelly 03-06-2004, 07:13 AM I was thinking it would be cool to hear stories about your husbands bringing in gear that you thought was monstrous...
What gear enters the louge room over your dead body?

Mrs. Kamakiri 03-06-2004, 10:30 AM Chris,
Lets see. There have been many huge items that came into our home. Tim has collected all kinds of things. We first started off with antique console radios. Mostly Philco, we had them in order by the year in our basement. (we had alot of them). Then he sold that collection off and started the TV collection. There were several of those... and honestly I lost count. Alot of the sets though were ugly and as long as they stayed in his section of the house I am fine with that. He then sold most of the TV collection and started into audio, thus where we are at right now.
I have to say many of his items would not be displayed in the main rooms of our home just because they don't go with the decor.
But the few things that he did bring home that I thought were monstrous are the following:
Altec A-7's and the Altec A-5, some ugly huge speakers that he got from Rob, and some black speakers that we are getting back from someone.
I do have to say that I have a few Tim's items displayed in our home which are a black Chinese TV cabinet which is in our livingroom, and the CT 100 that he just had refinished which is in our spare bedroom. And he recently got a TV from captainmoody which is now in our bedroom.
But the majority of the big crap is still in our basement which we also use as a familry room, we kinda have it divided so his stuff is on one side and ours on the other. But the main thing we have alot of is speakers...:wtf: How many speakers are actually required.
botrytis 03-06-2004, 10:40 AM How many speakers? There is never enough!!! LOL
Dave
Mrs. Kamakiri 03-06-2004, 11:21 PM last count was 8 sets of speakers.... I wouldn't think that there was a need for all of them. We really only have two systems going currently at our home. :dunno:
To me the rest sit around here and take up space.
Shain 03-06-2004, 11:23 PM He only has 8 sets??
SLACKER!
Mrs. Kamakiri 03-07-2004, 04:10 PM :lmao:
Ms Grumpy 03-24-2004, 08:29 PM I have to respond to this thread. I know that Grumpy will not like this but he has entirely too much stuff!! And he has this idea that for every one item that leaves there should be between two and five items to replace it.
Pretty soon me and the kids will be living in the garage with the Chevelle! hahaha..... Really!
The largest speakers that Grumpy ever brought home were the K Horns last summer. Those things were huge!
I think that as he spends more time on AK his hunger for bigger and better equiptment increases. Now this might be a good thing if we owned a 20,000 square foot home. Unfortunately, we have a little home. Maybe someday Grumpy.......
Shain 03-24-2004, 11:02 PM Hey Mrs Grumpy,
Put him out in the garage!;)
ProAc_Fan 03-25-2004, 02:01 AM Hey Steph the A7's will be back SOON. I know you've been counting the days.:D My beautiful Almarro's will be here very soon too.

Mrs. Kamakiri 03-27-2004, 01:33 PM Finally back, It's taken about 4 days. Some type of viral thing that is going around here again that the little one brought home from pre school. Didn't have these problems before he went there. Shit now he brings home pink eye, the flu, and much more ....
But my grandma told me of a good cure if you ever want to try it. Get a lemon cut it in half and then in slices. Put it in a bowl and sprinkle some salt on it, Not too much just enought to take away some of the bitterness. Then shake it really well in the bowl and eat a lemon slice (juice and pulp). And then eat one slice every hour or so. Makes you feel wonderful.
Nancy, I know what you mean about a small house and not enough room to put everything I sometimes wonder the same thing here. But he always finds room. Just let him collect whatever at least you know what he's doing. (I never have to worry about Tim cuz our money is going on TV's, Audio, or speakers):D Or he's always trying to fix something.
Well Mike I will be happy to get those speakers back let me tell you. I;m sure my neighbors won't be too happy though!!! :D
truetone36 03-06-2006, 06:24 PM Well my hubby has about 15 radios that he says are rare. He would have more if it where up to him but I only let him have 1 room of the house but omg now he's building a shed in the back yard. look out town!!!!!!!!!!!! {I know nothing about antiques <<<< is that how u spell it?}
Mrs. Truetone
toxcrusadr 03-15-2006, 08:21 PM My honey says I already have all the best antique radios. Truthfully I have pretty much stopped buying them at about 40-50. Now I have an audio bug. Uh-oh.

similost 11-11-2007, 03:11 PM Well, if having an Altec VOTT sitting on top of a Peavey SUB-118 in your living room along with a couple thousand watts doesn't push the realm.. I don't know what ever could.. I married right!!!!
