Mac + Marantz SA7 1 month review !

Hi everyone ,it has been over a month since I have placed my new Marantz SA7 in service w/ my Mac gear(mac 252x2 amps,c2200pre/maggies 3.6, and I believe its time for a review ! OK I love my Mac stuff without a question the best stuff in the world ,"but as for source (cd,sacd,and so on )there are others out there that need a closer look,and Marantz SA7 SACD /CD ref. player is one of them .Lets just say to be nice who have Mac sacd/cd players out there ,your stuff is very good ,but to take your system to that next level please you owe it to yourself to look at the Marantz SA7 -my review is this ,WOW red book or SACD its so analog its scary! (ps; so is my spelling ,sorry for that!! )anyway the cd's sound so 3D if that make any sense.,: I have fallen in love with my collection all over again!PLease if anyone is thinking of purchasing a new form of source,please try this unit ,and let me know what you think .Bye to all and have a great easter!!! :music:Harry

Thanks for your review. I bought a Marantz SA11-S1 used a few weeks ago, but kept it for only a few days before returning it to the seller. It sounded great on the disks it would play, but it refused to read about 20% of my commercial CDs. Have you experienced anything of the sort with your SA7?

Bought mine new. It plays wonderful! May not be SA7 but my experience is also eriely analog-set at filter2. This is some kick butt CDP. No problems with it at all. Sorry for your bad experience with your SA11-S1. Hope your seller can get it fixed because it plays better than most CDP in its price range.

The SA11-S1 is replaced with SA-11S2, the new player is about half the price of S7 and uses the same metal transport used in the S7, I am seriously considering the S2.

Look for the money for a MAC301,you can buy online a top-of the -line Marantz ref. sa-7 and you would have a true analog sounding sacd and your red-book cd's will come to life! you owe it to yourself to listen to the sa7 .I purchased mine new under 5500.00 OTD .Go read reviews of this unit,it has kick some audio butt since its been out !!!. :music:Harry

I've owned an SA-11S2 since last November when they first came out. Redbook and SACD playback are both amazing and my unit has been operating flawlessly so far, knock on wood.

Congrats on buying one tremendous CDP. I’m also incredibly fortunate to own one. I’ve owned some pretty high-end stuff in my audio career—Meitner, dCS, Esoteric, Accuphase, Goldmund, Wadia, Theta, and a few more I forget right now—and even in that esteemed company, the Marantz stands out. Its ability to utterly vanish into the music is positively uncanny. It does all the audiophile tricks, but does so in the most subtle, “true to live” manner I’ve personally heard. It’s far from cheap, but I’ve heard things costing many multiples of its asking price that don’t compare. Congrats again! :D
