My brother in law works for the chicago sanitation department and recently found a Sansui Eight in the garbage. I just got my hands on it this evening.Sure it has a few scratches in the case and missing a power cord. Other than that it appears to be in good shape. (Can use a good cleaning).I did note that the left fuse is blown. I need to hunt down a power cord and schematics for this unit, before i can power it up and check supply voltages. Any suggestions would be welcome
Thanks

MarkIr's a very special AC Cord for model Eight. It might be this (http://www.oaktreeent.com/Sansui_AC_Cable_Replacement.htm)
Service Manual and a lot of other technical literatures can be found here (http://www.obsinc.us/Dep_VOVS_Literatures.htm)

You can easily adapt a power cord to fit your Eight. The Eight has large pegs for the cord but the distance between them is standard. Simply find a cord and use a hammer and construction nail to enlarge the cord's openings. I used a bench vice to hold the cord in place. Adjust with pliors as needed. I was able to get a secure fit. Be sure to inspect your work very closely!

It appears that the tuning knob is also slipping.Removed uppercover and the cording all looks in good shape and properly wound. I will have to remove the lower cover tonight and take a look.

Many types of electronic equipment has removable power cords. Any good electronics supply house will stock several variations. One of them will work on the Eight. Should be less than $5 (Oaktree's $25 cord is outrageous.)
The tension on the dial string needs to be increased. The tensioner pulley is mounted on a spring steel tang. Just bend the tang a little to increase the tension. Remove the retaining screw first. That will give you a little room to work with.

Found the proper cord for this application. $5.00 a piece.Bought 2.
I also tightened the screw on the small pulley and solved the tensioning problem.
I opened the bottom of the unit and was suprised to find several fritos and hair laying around. After cleaning I noted that the fuses F007 and F009 are bad, this appearantly provides -/+ 44v to the Right channel. (Working with Eight deluxe schematic) Being that the left channel power comes from the same taps, i'm going to assume that the right amp is blowing the fuses. Will know more when i can power the unit up

The 8 delux has a totaly different amplifier. You may as well use a Marantz schematic. Get the right one. I only see fuses f001 through f006 in the Eight schematic.

Thank you for the schematics.
It turns out that the blown fuses are actually F003 and F004. Will know more when i get it powered up.
Thanks again everyone
