weird CDP

OK this is a bit odd (well I think it is anyhow)

Picked up a Pioneer PDT-305 CDP (twin tray) at a local fleas market for $5. I dont need another CDP but whenever I see anything for $5 I say what the hell, lets see how it sounds. Sounds pretty good, but.........

it only plays CD-R's

whats up with that? I've heard of CDP's that wont play burnt disc's but not the other way round, any ideas?

I can't imagine what would cause that. From the CDP's view, the main thing about CD-R's is that they are less reflective than regular CD's. A misadjusted laser, maybe?
