Alright - some of you in SMAC know I've been chasing am intermittent static in my CD player... or I thought it was anyways. It now appears that I have (had) a noisy CD input selector switch in my amp (Sony TA-F555es).

I took the switch out and was going to swap it with the Tape2 switch, then got the idea to take it apart to get some contact cleaner inside. I worked a little too fast and fubar'd it, putting it back together. Now I'd *really* like to find a replacement. Sony doesn't have any of these parts available.

It is an ALPS 4PDT pushbutton switch, but there's no ALPS number on it. Can anyone help me ID it? Find a place to get one? Have one handy?

Thanks!

P.S. I wouldn't mind a new PCB mount headphone jack for this, while I'm at it, but I didn't see any ID. Need a pic?

Find a parts unit maybe? Honestly, there's so many configurations of these switches that you simply will have to start browsing Digikey, Mouser, and Newark catalogs to find something comparable. What this means is hours staring at catalog pages, and probably a few 'trial and error' orders.

In the future, you can usually get cleaner into these switches by working the spray tube in-under the spring and shoot the cleaner down the actuator shaft.

Yea about the configurations, I had just been looking at the ALPS site. Maybe I'll see if I can get the dimensions off it and ask if they can ID it and a distributor.

Someone else suggested finding a similar switch and swapping out the sliding contacts (the parts I fubar'd)... not sure I have anything that will work but maybe someone will see the thread. I just need to replace 2 of them and see now how to put it back together without further fubar.

Thanks!

The internal contacts are all very similar. All you need is an old switch.
