My 2226B started dropping out on one channel a few months back, so I pulled it and replaced with my Pioneer sx-680. After taking the bottom off to give it a good bath, I noticed it looked like the bass pot was separating. I ended up putting it back together (the receiver) and shelved it for another time. Well, 3 months later I finally got around to pulling it out again while cleaning out the closet and going through other gear to keep or sell for parts (dontated some gear to friend financially in dire straights too.) Somehow, the tabs that hold the back of the pot on (and the whole thing together) loosened up and turning the bass would make the whole pot come slightly apart and not make good contact. I was able to bend the tabs back and put it back together. We'll see how long it lasts.
on another, note I have no issues with the Pioneer and have always enjoyed it over my H/K 330C. It sounds good in my listening room hooked up to a set of Yamaha NS-690's. However, I did notice a world of difference when I hooked the Marantz back up. I should have pulled it out of the closet anad looked at it sooner...
