Guys,
I just picked up a Pioneer Elite DV-C36 (It's a carousel changer) that has a weird problem. Sometimes when trying to load or eject a disk, the drawer goes right back in after it comes out..... in fact, it might not come quite all the way out..... it's hard to tell. I thought maybe it's a dirty switch someplace? Any ideas?

Anybody? Did I post this to the wrong forum?
The best thing to do is remove the cover and carefully watch the drawer cycle during it's open and close sequence. These usually have a couple of leaf switches, belts with cams (and gears) that require lubrication. My guess is that either a leaf switch is stuck in the "on" position or a small plastic piece has broken off the cam assembly. Look for any loose or broken pieces inside the chassis. If you find a piece or two, you might be able to cement them back in place. Take pictures and post them here if you can.

I don't think it'll be a broken piece as the problem is intermittent, and I don't hear anything rattling around...... well, I hope it's not a broken piece any way. I'll pull the cover after I get the Yamaha C-80 Pre-amp put back together, that I'm working on...... I've got too many things taken apart right now :D
I was excited and disappointed all at the same time when I found this DVD changer. I was excited to find an Elite series Pioneer, but I was disappointed to find it made in China...... I thought Pioneers TOTL would still be made in Japan.
I was amused to find that the remote from my Pioneer Laserdisc player will partially operate the DVD changer!
Thanks for the help, I'll report back.
Again...examine the leaf (or other) switches that control the cycling. They may have become sticky.

I've never had good luck with carousel changers. My Onkyo 6-disc is a great DVD player-most of the time. It doesn't get freaky from receiver heat-most of the time. It doesn't lose it's place between discs-most of the time. It doesn't refuse to read a disc it just played-most of the time.
In all fairness , these issues seem to be caused by heat. My HT receiver gets pretty warm , and is on the shelf below it ( with 4 inches of airspace above it!) I finally replaced it with a $99 upconverting Sony and have had no issues since.
BTW , if anyone wants to swing by and pick up the Onkyo , I have the remote and should be able to find the owner's manual. I'm not using it and don't want any money for it-but I don't want to ship it. On an open shelf it should work just fine.
