Yeah, I would say six or eight caps and it should "fire" right up. Yikes.

If I've learned anything, its that these things clean up nice. It just takes a little time. These are the before and After of the SX-1010 I almost put in my garage!!:nono: Thanks again for the help you've given me lately.

Anybody catch the missing heatsink on the power supply CCA ? Found it floating around the inside of the amp during disassembly.

Looks like a perfect candidate for "This old Amp" I bet it comes through and plays again. Definitely well loved...

Well I was successful in removing the paint/woodstain/varnish without removing silkscreening.Softened the paint up with video inkjet make-up fluid then removing the stuff with with good ole 409 cleaner.( gots to be real careful with make-up fluid,it will remove silkscreening )....

Cool. Now I don't have to do it. Good thing because a certain person still has not produced one $100 cordless screwdriver and I suspect he's a commie sympathizer or suntin like that...

Nice Job getting the grunge off of the faceplate. Looks like new. Someone obviously had no love for that amp. I bet it was broke and sat around in a garage forever and was subjected to more degredation. Glad to see it cleaning up. Now the case thats something I can certainly handle!

How hot is that compared to laquer thinner?

I tried lacquer thinner first..then acetone...last resort make-up fluid.Like I said , it will remove silkscreen printing fairly easily.Wierd thing though . I applied to the surface of the paint then wiped it off within 1 or 2 seconds with a paper towel soaked in 409 --The unwanted paint came off in large flakes--Leaving the silkscreen intact.:scratch2:
