Hi all. After finding this site very helpful in my research over the last few months, I decided to join. Kudos to all who work hard to make this place so fun and useful.:thmbsp:
I've recently gotten back into the hobby after enjoying my college-era system for many years:
Boston Acoustics A400's (bi-amped)
NAD 3150 integrated amp
NAD 2150 power amp
B&O Beogram 1800 w/MMC2 cart
Carver TDL-100
Nakamichi LX-3
I foolishly pitched the Nak into a dumpster years ago when I had gotten totally out of cassettes (doh!); the Beogram went into the closet for a long nap; and the Carver was donated to a buddy after I decided I needed a DVD/CD combo (doh! again).
In December 2007 I started to put things back together and to assemble a second system for my home office. I'm having an absolute blast.
I got the Beogram's belt replaced and have ordered a replacement cart from SoundSmith (suspension failed on the old one)--watching the mailbox like a kid. Found out my friend never used the Carver and kept it in original box w/remote--I'm retrieving it and will need to replace the belt for the drawer mechanism.
Ultra low-budget office system that I've assembled so far (under wife's radar):
B&W DM110's - great condition - $85
Carver Receiver 900 - near perfect - $80
How'd I do on those prices?
Eventually I'd like a Carver Receiver 2000 and some speakers with better bass. Any speaker suggestions that can be had for less than $250/pr?
Sorry about the very long introductory post--just excited to be here, I guess.
Looking forward to getting to know you all better through the forums...
