So I bit on this Receiver on u-know-where in a weak moment. Well, unfortuately the packing was not stellar and FedOOps was less than gentle.
Anyways the damaged input jacks and ant jacks on the rear can be salvaged as soon as someone parts one out but the lamp assembly is a wreck too. It is in at least a dozen pieces. These things are very fragile at best so I don't hope to find one to replace it with. Has anyone ever successfully fabricated a replacement?
Funny, this is a 2235B and others that were all melted and fractured were 2235s,2235Bs, 2240s, & a 2245, I wonder what is so different about the design that made these more succeptable. Lamp wattage? Metal shields? Who knows.
Anyway if anyone has a good idea for a replacement I would appreciate it. Now to get on with recapping it. All the power supply caps are bustin' out of their heat shrink!!! :sigh:

OMG! Now I realize why some of these get parted out. Before I learn to fabricate sheet metal I think I'll clean it up and bench test. If it's nice I'll probably fabricate with aluminum and perf board and go with LEDs for simplicity.
If it's got serious issues Ill part the darn thing out and scatter the left overs with a BFH.

I designed and built a lamp bezel out of Lego. Relatively quick and dirty, but it looks no worse than the original bezel (especially after it melted). As far as heat is concerned, as long as nominal is below 200 degrees Centigrade, you're OK. More than that, well, the least of worries will be the bezel!

...but I do like the aluminum bezel that was posted!

Another use for LEGOs! Very resourceful. Did you glue them end-to-end or rig some other frame? I don't suppose you took any Pics?
