Thinking of something like this, as a beginning:
a large tile (from Home Depot/Menard's etc.) about 18"x18" and about 30 lbs.
A low box of slightly larger dimensions, filled with about 1-1/2" of sand. The tile goes into the box, and I'm able to level the block, and I've provide another source to dissipate vibrations.
On top of the tile block will be the interesting project.

Does this sound like an idea worth pondering?

Help most certainly welcome,

Pete

Whats a plinth?? Wouldn't a nice piece of granite or marble be nicer than tile for whatever you are doing?

Cheap. Already to a size.
Cheap.
I'm cheaper than my good friend who's Welsh-Scots-German (and he has steadily been inheriting everything from his family, just his brother and him and a few remaining older older relatives ...)

I haven't been out to look around. Just what I remember. The big paver tiles are only like a couple bucks each.

Pete,
Personally I would keep any source of dust and grit away from my gear, especially a TT. Lead shot might do the trick, the birds don't like it anyway.

You could get a nice sized chunk pretty cheap that is left over from a job from a stone place.
