After trying to get my 3800 and 170 DC repaired fifteen years ago I regretfully boxed them up and stashed them away in my garage. Due to lack of good repair shops and raising a family I gave up trying to get them repaired. Then last year we bought a new house and when I moved the gear out of my garage I thought... I've got to see if I can get this stuff fixed. Well to make a long story short I found AK and knew I was in the right place. Fellow AK'er catrafter came to my rescue and now they are crankin' away in like new or better than condition. Thanks catrafter...

You have taken very good care of those. It was my pleasure to make 'em sing.
Thanks again, Bluesdog!

Good to hear the classic audio pieces are back in action. AK brings people together and is a knowledge base for improvements in the status of the world's audio listening position. Good stuff Maynard.

I have the exact same preamp/amp setup and mine need a tuneup. Who did you send yours to for the work? I am in Boise and am looking for someone closer rather than further...
I am also going back to vinyl and want everything in top shape for when I get a turntable.
I guess I was lucky, I got the 3800 for a couple of hundred bucks 8 years ago off ebay. Got the 170dc from a dealer in FL for a couple hundred as well. Been playing cds through a Marantz 67se and have Klispch klf-30s. Kind of an oddball combination of gear but it works quite nicely.
Love that old '70s Marantz gear though. A buddy of mine had a nice Marantz setup in the late '70s when we were kids and that got me hooked.
