OK, this is the first tuner I've ever bought. I wanted to listen to the radio through my Rambler so I bought a Technics ST-2500 fir $19(Aus), unfortunately I just missed out on a Yamaha Natural sound tuner for the same price.

Is this OK? I'm not really fussy about FM as long as there isnt fuzzing in the background.

Looks great!

How does it sound as a source to you?

Nicely styled unit. If it sounds good to you, that is what counts.

I found a picture of it, along with a bunch of other rather obscure Technics tuners at this site:

Thank you riverrat. That site has some really cool looking tuners. Apparently the 2500 is the top in the 2000 series. I am really drawn to the Tecs with the allen key connected glass:8600, 8200. The St-G900 looks very purty.

My father had a 1963 Rambler American.

But your's looks much nicer than his....and I bet it doesn't grind gears either!?

BTW: Nice tuner!!

Hi,

Your Technics is one of their better tuners. It's sensitive and sounds very excellent. It has pretty good selectivity. You did nice!

Cool, thanks guys! Nice to know I picked up a good one. I have done a bit of listening and it sounds pretty good to me.

It has a problem with the transformer though, it seems louder than normal to me and can be a bit irritating. It also needs new globes. But I'm happy with it.

Thanks Steve! I got the Rambler off e-bay for $20 in pretty much perfect condition and its very nice to listen to.

Edit: heh, gearhound, I only just got the 'I bet it doesn't grind gears either!?' bit. heheh, sorry for being slow but I live in Australia and never heard of Rambler's (the cars) until I was trying to research for my old amp.
