Does anyone have a bimmer?
Does it have good audio?

Just thought it'd be a fun thing to share that all BMW's that have the 'upgraded' stereo come with a free CD!

I'd rather get a Bentley with a Naim system, or Aston Martin with Linn :P. A BMW would do though ;)

Check out the MPG. I would buy one if they pay the gas!

I bought my 91 Chevrolet because the Owner's Manual was printed in color. ;)

Notice on the leather binder that this is a Z8 (http://www.bmwz8.us/htmlL/test1.php?GalleryID=1). People who can afford a Z8 are NOT worried about the price of gas.

The CD has "The Horst Wessel Song" and the ever popular "Ya-Ya-Ya-Ya".

... or the "Da-Da-Da" song VW used in an ad campaign some years back.

Actually, maybe it's just "Deutschland ueber alles", or Beethoven's ninth symphony.

Well, I have a bimmer, and this is my third one, but I had bought them all VERY used :D, as in over 100,000 miles at purchase, just when they were getting broken in well!

Good audio system? Not in any of mine. And I really don't care, I never listen to music while I'm driving, or even the radio. Why? One, I'm VERY spoiled by my home system. Two, if I did have a very good audio system in the car, and was listening to music that I truly like, my attention would most likely drift (read: definitely drift) to the music, and not the other vehicles or obstacles on the road, which isn't a good idea on Atlanta's interstates :D.

Most of the older cars didn't come with anything that great as far as audio is concerned. But, I have a friend, that's a very successful composer and arranger, that bought a 2003 3 series BMW with an upgraded Harman-Kardon stereo system on board. The sound of that system was drop-dead amazing! There's a lot to be said for having a system designed specifically for the acoustics of the car, and having the cooperation of the factory for speaker placement, as opposed to buying something aftermarket and trying to make it work with the car. Think about it, how many of us get the speaker placement in our listening rooms perfect on the first try? :scratch2:

You just hit in right on the head. I live in Chatt, TN and the roads are scary to the point where I rarely listen to music. Plus it sounds like crap - I own a Jeep.

I have a BMW X3, didn't find what you showed. Cost me $240. for dealership to hook up an input jack so I could use an MP3 player. You would think for what they charge for these cars it would come with a MP3 accommodation or at least tossed in free. Riiiippoff.

There it was in the stacks of CD's :) If I hadn't read this thread it would still be there too... but I had to bring this info home to the group here on AK. I swear, I have walked into a local thrift or yard sale, and something I learned about here is staring up at me. By the way... not half bad, nice eclectic choices, all Chesky... good clean recordings all. (even in a Dodge mini van- ha ha ha!) Or even played through my new toy, a Sansui AU-719, my first Sansui! What a deprived life I have led until now!!

I just sold my 2000 323Ci that had the upgraded HK system.

I ripped it out by its roots, hated it. I installed an Alpine HU with ipod interface, component speakers (MB Quart but always intended to replace them) driven by a Elemental Designs Nine.4 and a JL 10" sub driven by another eD Nine.2 amp.

That system was head and shoulders, an order of magnitude, better than the factory system.

For the most part, the speakers you find in most cars are crap. The door and rear shelf speakers that came out of my car were unbelievably flimsy.

It may have been part of one of the packages that I have on my car because there was not an itemized cost for the input. They do charge more for the iPod control feature, but I did not buy it.

The 2006 335i uses something called Logic7 that was developed by Lexicon. It sounds pretty good to me. I have a test disc, but I have never listened to it.

check out the older cars that have stereo's they have good quality sound and they last along time. cassette decks dont break as easily as cd players, plus when you go over a big bump the music dosnt skip
