If you are meaning that when selecting a recording of a classical work you are choosing by what you consider the best orchestral performance as opposed to audio recording quality then I'm with you there.

My favorite recording of Handel's Water Music is on a scratched-up old LP from the early '50s. And I'd rather hear the Boswell or Andrews Sisters on the original 78 than remixes on a later LP...
