Yup.
Believe it or not, Linn has decided to try to get back some of its market share by releasing the Majik LP12:

Now budget probably means different things to different people, but Linn is releasing the new LP12 with the majik power supply, Cirkus bearing, an Adikt cartridge and, (are you sitting down?) a Pro-ject 9 arm, for just under 2K pounds in England. Pretty impressive deal.
Nice part is that it is totally upgradeable, so as funds permit, you can spend an extra $10,000 on upgrades! :D

Big attaboy to the folks at Pro-ject. Not that I have anything against Rega, but it sure is nice to see a TT hit the market with something other than a Rega arm on it. Those of us who love Pro-ject gear never had a doubt, but this has got to push their credibility up a few notches in the audiophool world.

Don't know if I would say the price is "high". Considering it comes with a cartridge, the pricing makes it a viable competitor now for the Pro-Ject RPM-10 or the Rega P-7. Right smack in the middle of the range of quality tables.
Be interesting to see what it does to the reslae value of LP-12's. Might knock some of the older ones down a little from the silly money I have seen them in recently.
Who knows? I might be even able to afford one sometime... :)

What would that be,about 4K in the US?Thats a heck of a table for that price. If I was looking at buying a new table in that range,it would definetely by at the top of my list.

yeah hopefully used prices will go down. I'm happy with what I have now though, at least in regards to turntables lol.

Nice classis table as the TD-125 might be, it is no where near the same thing, nor is it years ahead.

Silly comment anyhow, as anyone who is considering a new Majik LP-12 or Pro-ject RPM-10, VPI Scoutmaster, etc. is not gonna even think about a TD 125.

Number of different colours/woods available.

Surprised by the lousy promotion job Linn is doing. I am having a hard time finding pics online.

Yeah, the Naim guys are all over it.

Looks like we need to draft some more Linnies over here. :D

Good for them. Now they don't have all of their analog eggs in one LP12 basket.

.......just meeting a price point by sourcing an "ok", but still cheap ass Eastern-Euro arm. Benz is making plastic cars now, too, as I'm sure you are aware.
Great Britain is still resisting the "Village" and it's making it more difficult for the Scots to keep that tired ass, bed sprung table in production.

Never understood the fascination for the Thorens 124 either. Plenty of better rim drives out there.

Are you actually serious about any of that or just a piss poor attempt at trolling?

I'd like to weigh in on this one as well, It is long overdue for Linn to commit themselves more heavily and with a broader line-up in analogue IMHO. As a Sondek (sound deck) Lp12 owner since 1982 I find this deck to still hold a solid place and hold up well in the vinyl spinning pantheon of high-end Hifi. Let's not forget who made the controversial move to publicly claim and demo that the table had more to do with musical reproduction and musical satisfaction than the rest of it, that was Ivor Tiefenbrun running around doing A/B's to try and enlighten the unwashed masses. This single event changed everything and brought us the turntable industry of today. We are standing on the shoulders of giants my friends. Comparing the Thorens to the Lp12... please, I need a Wee Dram of Scotch or three and I still can't choke that one down. Yet if I were just getting started the Lp12 is a bargain used and I think that is were I would start, an excellent investment in sound. Anyway, Bravo to Linn!

Happy Listening! :beatnik:

This is great news indeed!!! Any time competition increases its good thing for you and I the consumer........also the fact that we now have a choice of something other then Rega ( nothing at all against Rega, but its nice to see someone else being brought to the table.....) is a great thing!!! Price point is right in that area of --Ok now I am getting pretty serious and am willing to fork over some considerable dough now for analog playback........ I have had the pleasure ( and I picked the word pleasure on purpose) of listening to a couple of LP 12's, one newer one vintage and both were very very enjoyable!!! Good on Linn, lets only hope that the rest of the TT manufacturers follow up here!!!!:thmbsp:
