I know this is old news to a lot of you guys but wow. This thing sounds sooooo nice. Running with the Misson 775 turntable and some AR94s I have never heard such detail and life. Ella Fitzgerald doing Cole Porter tunes is a transcendent experience. And I've never heard the underlying male backing vocals in some Paul Simon tunes before.

A great receiver. I'm even tempted to hook up an antenna just so I can use more of the knobs!

Just one question - I've turned on the high filter because the treble seems a bit hot. Or maybe I'm just not used to it. Not objectionable, just a bit crisp, especially at higher volumes. Is that typical for this Marantz?

I tend to back off the treble on mine if i turn it up, but that is a personal preference. I do also use the hi-filter on my smaller bolivar's as they do get a bit loud on the treble. the bigger bolivars i have no issue with and they both (big and small bolivars) have the identical tweeters in them.

if i ever get my 2265 repaired then i will have something to compare with for sound, but until then i tend to tweet it to my preference.

hi
no its not! i have (2) 2325s and i control the sound quite
well. Do you use the Dolby settings ? It can make
a big difference. With the setup i have i run the bass, mids
and treble at flat response with excellent sound with or without the Dolby on. it difinitley is one of the best receivers
ever produced.:music::music::thmbsp:

$45 Axcel?! Wow. The going rate is $500 - $600 as far as I can tell. Sweet find. Now I'd like to find the wood case for this one - they just look so nice encased in a dead tree. You wouldn't think it would be very hard to make one. Heck, it's just an open ended box!

yes I walked into the GW just as an employee was struggling to put in on a shelf I saw only the back of it first but could tell it was a Marantz. Big smile when I saw the front I snapped it up sold it to finance my Accuphase E202 and T101 combo A fair sacrifice in my books:music:
