Well, these much traveled little amps made it to my place on Thursday. I hooked them up to the Model 15's but hadn't had any real time to listen until today. I am very impressed at how smooth they sound. They seem to take the sharpness off the HF drivers and can certainly pack some punch in the bottom end.

I tried them with the preamp that comes with them and liked what I heard, but like all of us here I had to try a different preamp to see how different it would sound. Right now I am running a Marantz 2230 as the pre. This is a very pleasant surprise. It gives me the opportunity to mess with the sound via the tone controls :D. Too bad that I don't have my Foreplay finished yet but it is real close.

I now understand what all the hype is about (although my collection of monster SS receivers is still pretty good). I can only imagine what some other amps sound like. I have ordered a nOrh SE-9 that I can't wait to get here. I already have some new tubes to roll in it ;).

I would like to thank Fredt for his generosity in letting some of us experience the magic of tubes. On the other hand my wife doesn't thank you cause now I'll be looking to start a new collection of tube gear :D . Thanks Fred!!!

You're a lucky man indeed...enjoy the tube power! I, too can't wait to finally receive my 300B SET from BEZ. My Cornwalls are dying here without valve amplification!

jguzman wait till you throw a higher quality tube amp with more power at those 15's you won't believe the difference if you think those Wave 8's sound nice ;)

Before I send these sweet little things back to their owner I thought I would try these on my Dynaco A-25's. WOW!! These are really a GREAT speaker. If you own a pair you already know what I am talking about. I was really impressed as the bass was there and sounded great and the mids were spot on. I was listening to a female vocal comp CD that fellow AK'er JDaniel made for me. Boy was that a cool experience!

I AM hooked on tubes. Now my problem is how do I make time to listen to my collection of HIGH powered SS gear...:dunno:

Thanks Fred!!

I can feel your pain. Every tube lover should have a high power SS amp in the closet so, in the dark of night when your friends aren't looking, you can take it out and enjoy that slam that only SS can provide. Then you can put it back in the closet, slide the tube amp back into the system, and listen to music again. :p:
