AK: Most users ever online - 2006???

According to the AK homepage (http://www.audiokarma.org/), it says:

Most users ever online was 895, 11-12-2006 at 07:12 AM
I can't understand how that can still be right, 17 months later: Back then, we had less than 20,000 members, now we are past 35,000. I would have thought that this "record" would be broken just about every week, but not, according to the above.

Any thoughts? Was there a statistical anomaly that caused the online numbers to spike much past averages on that particular date back in 2006? Software problem?

Most of those 35,000 are not posting.

If you look at the member list, there's a meaningful number of members with zero or just a handful of posts.

I don't think posting is necessary, just logged in (online)?

Users is defined as members and guests. I would imagine that someone cross-posted something here to another site (or a few) and a bunch of "outsiders" came in for a quick look.
